At 4:01 p.m. ET today, Netflix (NFLX) drops its third-quarter numbers.
Until this week, if you traded Netflix options, you’d have had a front-row seat to the reaction… and no way to act on it. The stock could gap in after-hours trading while your options sat frozen until 9:30 ET the next morning.
Not anymore.
On Monday, the CBOE launched pre- and post-market trading for options on 29 of the market’s most active stocks and ETFs, including Netflix, Apple (AAPL), Nvidia (NVDA), Meta (META), and Tesla (TSLA).
The CBOE was already the only U.S. options exchange offering pre- and post-market sessions for index options. Now that’s expanded.
Options on these 29 names now trade in a pre-market session from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. ET and a post-market session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
These new sessions cover some of the most actively traded and liquid symbols in the market.
How were these symbols chosen?
The criteria typically required average daily options volume of 150,000+ contracts, an underlying market cap of $50 billion+, and average daily share volume of 10 million+, rebalanced every six months.
Now… special mention for SPY, QQQ, and IWM. Options on those three ETFs already trade until 4:15 p.m. ET… a 15-minute window after the closing bell most traders never think about.
That’s the window my Dark Ticker system’s been working for the last three years (with an 83% win rate this year, I might add!). What changed Monday is that the same window just opened to Tesla, Meta, Nvidia, and 21 other single stocks.
We’ve been at the forefront of this pre- and post-market trading advancement, and now the movement is getting even stronger.
Through September, options on these names accounted for about 53% of all U.S.-listed options volume this year.
Here’s the new trading schedule on any given day…

Meta and Tesla both report earnings after the bell tomorrow, and for the first time, options on both will trade from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET.
If you plan to trade that window, stick with limit orders… these sessions are short, and you want to control your price.
This is a major shift that finally lets you take advantage of pre- and post-market moves in the options market. The game is changing, and we’ve been at the forefront of it since day one.
