Back in April, Intel (INTC) had its best trading day in more than half a century… a roughly 24% surge that made it one of the great comeback stories of 2026.
Last Friday, it had its worst in 52 years.
The stock plunged as much as 30% and closed down 28.6%, wiping out over $100 billion in market value.
In short, it was a bloodbath of epic proportions.
A slump in PC demand, a squeeze on memory chips as AI data centers soak up supply, and an accident at its factory in Israel all fed into weak fourth-quarter guidance. That guidance triggered Intel’s biggest one-day drop since July 5th of 1974, during the severe mid-1970s recession. The last time Intel had a day this bad, Richard Nixon was still in the White House.
As the chart below shows, this one-day move pushed Intel from about $92 to $65.76.
The trigger was Intel’s outlook. The company said it expects adjusted earnings of 25 cents per share on revenue between $15 billion and $16 billion for the fourth quarter.
That came in far below the estimates of 43 cents per share on the bottom line and $17 billion for revenue.
Here’s the kicker: Intel’s third quarter was actually quite good. It beat Wall Street’s estimates, and its data center business grew nearly 80% from a year earlier.
But that didn’t matter. Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon called the outlook “(in a word) terrible,” and on earnings night, the outlook is what moves the stock.
Going into this drop, investors were riding high…
Intel stock had nearly quadrupled from the start of January to its record peak on June 22nd, 2026. Now Intel has given back half its value from that peak.
For buy-and-hold investors, this was a tough pill to swallow. Picture going to bed Thursday night holding one of 2026’s biggest winners, and waking up Friday to find roughly a quarter of your position wiped out before the opening bell.
But for traders like us, this historic downside move created an opportunity for a monster overnight winner.
Using The War Room’s overnight earnings methodology, we were able to turn last Friday’s Intel move into gains of 243%, 253%, and even a whopping 672% overnight!
By Friday morning, while the rest of Wall Street was still sifting through the wreckage, The War Room chat was busy ringing the register.
See for yourself with these testimonials from Friday, October 30th…
